“Estamira”: Jan. 22, 4 pm @ the Institute

Next week you have the opportunity to watch the award winning documentary “Estamira” at the institute. Here’s a short summary:

Estamira is a 2005 documentary about a 63 years old woman who believes her mission is to unveil the truth. It shows her particular way of interpreting the outside world, her own inner world and her history. She has been diagnosed as schizophrenic, but portraits a different version of what is science. During the period while the movie was produced she lived in a large waste disposal, which covers more than a million square meters, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. According to the director of the movie, Marcos Prado, ‘for her, the true waste is the failed values in which society lives’. The film Estamira won, in total, 33 awards, nationally and internationally!
